The main function of the ascender
1: The main function – rise
2: When there is a slip during rock climbing, the ascender will play a protective role at the first time.
However, because the working principle is based on the friction between the thorn and the rope, the effect of fixing the position is generated, so too much force will cause certain damage to the rope.
Classification of ascenders
According to the different uses of ascenders, they can be roughly divided into: handle ascenders, chest ascenders, foot ascenders and simple ascenders.
Handle Ascender
Uses: Mountaineering, rock climbing, caving, ice climbing, rescue, engineering protection, high-altitude games, etc. Features: There are left-hand ascenders and right-hand ascenders, suitable for ropes with a diameter of 8-13mm.
Chest Ascender
Uses: caving, engineering protection and other sports
Features: Chest ascender. The ratchet has a mud and ice-proof design to prevent the rope from slipping when it freezes or is covered with mud. Applicable rope diameter 8-13mm
Foot Riser
Uses: caving, engineering protection and other sports
Features: Divided into left foot ascender and right foot ascender. For use with chest and handle ascenders. It can greatly improve the ascent efficiency, especially suitable for long-distance ascent. Using it will save you a lot of hassle for the last person to ascend in spelunking.
Simple Ascender (not recommended)
The rope ascender for emergency use belongs to the pocket ascender.
Uses: Pulley systems, rope climbing, assisting climbers.
Features: There are holes for cleaning the dirt, ice and snow on the rope. Suitable for single ropes from 8 to 11 mm, with 10 to 12 mm round and oval cross-section locking safety buckle.
Precautions for use
1. The ascender has requirements on the thickness of the rope. It is too thick to go in, and it is too thin to protect it. The handle type ascender usually requires the diameter of the rope to be 8-13MM.
2. When pushing the ascender, do not push it too close to the fixed end (knot), once it is pushed to the head, the ascender is difficult to remove.
3. Once there is ice and snow at the steel thorn of the riser, it should be cleaned up in time, otherwise the riser may fail after being stuck inside and frozen.
4. The ascender is divided into left and right hands, pay attention to choose according to the needs of use.
